DBBL announces @ 30% cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2010.

The Board of Directors has recommended cash dividend @ 30% for the General Public Shareholders and Foreign Sponsors/Shareholders for the year ended on December 31, 2010. The local sponsors of the Bank will not receive any dividend. Date of AGM: 24.03.11, Time: 10:00 AM, Venue:”Ballroom” of the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka. Record date: 27.02.11. The Bank has also reported EPS of Tk. 100.12, NAV per share of Tk. 350.05 and NOCFPS of Tk. (107.38) for the year ended on December 31, 2010. The Bank has also revalued its land from Tk. 105,550,689.00 to Tk.748,360,000.00 resulting a revaluation surplus of Tk. 642,809,311.00 and building from Tk. 174,019,534.00 to Tk. 381,624,000.00 resulting a revaluation surplus of Tk. 207,604,466.00.

Board of Directors of DBBL has approved Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2010

The Board of Directors of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited in its 105th meeting held on 12 February 2011 has approved the following:
The Audited Financial Statements of the Bank as of and for the year ended 31 December 2010, the auditors’ report thereon and appropriation of profits are hereby approved for placing the same before the shareholders in the 15th Annual General Meeting of the Bank.
Approval is hereby accorded for creation of ‘Assets Revaluation Reserves’ in terms of the instructions contained in BRPD Circular No. 10, dated 25 November 2002 with the total surplus amount for Taka 850,413,777 and fifty (50%) of the surplus amount of Taka 425,206,889 be considered as Tier 2 capital of the Bank as of 31 December 2010.
Cash dividend @30% i.e. Taka 30 for existing every ordinary share of Taka 100 for the year ended 31 December 2010 for the General Public Shareholders and Foreign Sponsors / Shareholders be and is hereby recommended to place before the Fifteenth Annual General Meeting of the Bank for necessary approval. The Local Sponsors of the Bank will not receive any dividend for the year ended 31 December 2010.”

DBBL has declared Tk 1.0 b scholarship project

Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd (DBBL) has declared a Tk 1.0 billion scholarship project, which will cover 30,000 needy but meritorious students every year by 2016. The bank officials disclosed details of their recent corporate social responsibility (CSR) endeavour at a city hotel on Saturday,February 12,2011.
DBBL Chairman Abedur Rashid Khan said, “Creating opportunities for the deprived ones, reducing discrimination in education sector, and establishing the rights of poor people are at the core of our spirit for launching this programme.”
DBBL officials informed the media that every year the bank awards scholarships to 575 SSC and HSC students. “We have realised this number is not enough to cover all the needy students across the country, and so, we would upgrade the number to 30,000 by 2016″, Mr Khan said.
“This big project to support the country’s education sector would require a total amount of Tk 1.02 billion”, Chairman of the executive committee Sayem Ahmed said. He also said the bank’s local sponsor directors will not take any cash dividend for funding the scholarship project.
Board directors Zaheed Hossain Khan, Dr Irshad Kamal Khan, Dr Syed Fakhrul Ameen ,Md Fakhrul Islam and K.S. Tabrez,Managing Director of DBBL were also present on the occasion.
DBBL has decided to award financial support to 5,000 SSC and HSC students this year. According to the official data revealed by Bangladesh Bank, DBBL spent more than Tk 159 million in various CSR activities in 2009. The total expenditure stood at Tk.2080 million.
