Leg-spinner Amit Mishra produced a stunning performance taking four wickets in five deliveries, including a hattrick, as Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off an incredible 11-run victory over Pune Warriors in the Pepsi Indian Premier League at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium on Wednesday.
Mishra (4 for 19) took the wickets with his second, fourth, fifth and sixth deliveries off his final over as Warriors were bowled out for 108 in 19 overs while chasing a mediocre target of 120 runs.
In the second match of the day, Rajasthan Royals thrashed Mumbai Indians by 87 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Batting first, the hosts set up 179 for the loss of only three wickets, thanks to Ajinkya Rahane’s 54-ball 68 and a few supporting knocks from the other top order batsmen.
The Mumbai chase never gathered pace once they lost stalwarts Sachin Tendulkar (1) and Ricky Ponting (4) cheaply. Dinesh Karthik (30) and Ambati Rayudu (27) tried to resurrect the innings, but Australian paceman James Faulkner (3-16) made sure the innings finished in double digits.
